Happy Friday!!
Bringing you this amazing Grapefruit Rose and Ginger Paloma to start your weekend with!
I believe this is the third week now in a row where I’ve shared with you all another cocktail recipe and I think I am loving this. Sharing a new cocktail/drink recipe on Fridays is so exciting to me for some reason. I get to photograph a lovely cocktail and then celebrate by drinking it.
While I love all of my previous cocktail recipes, this one has to be my favorite yet! It is so refreshing and lovely to drink. It only has a tiny taste of rose that just brings this drink a new refreshing taste. I absolutely love it. All it takes is the juice of grapefruit, lemon and lime topped with a dash of tequila and rose water and topped with your favorite ginger beer!
When I first tested out this drink, I almost added maple syrup to it because I thought it might need a bit of sweetness added. However, after testing it without, I realized, the ginger beer add the perfect amount of sweet without being too overpowering. It was so good!
In fact, I might make another tonight since I still have all the ingredients!
This is a really simple recipe to make, however there are some important ingredients that go into this. The first being rose water. I know it sounds like an interesting ingredient but it is SO GOOD! I love the flavor of rose and bought this rose water a while back to make macaroons with. Since I had so much left over, I decided to make a very spring inspired Paloma. That and with the access in grapefruit that I needed to get rid of, this was the perfect way to use both.
If you don’t have rose water and find it impossible to buy, you could always make your own from dried rose petals. I have done this before using these ones from Amazon. Simply just place the petals into a bowl of hot water and steep for a few minutes. then add the water into the drink and you will get the same flavor.
I should mention that rose is a very distinct flavor and I know a few people who aren’t that big of a fan and actually think it tastes like soap so with that said, you can leave the rose out of the cocktail and it will taste so good still. I don’t disagree that rose can taste a bit soapy sometimes when a lot has been added in, which is why I add a small amount to this recipe. By only adding a little bit, you get the essence of rose without the overly powerful taste. If you are afraid of it being too much, start off with a tiny amount, then add more depending on if you like it.
Finally, one of the most important steps is to top the drink off with your favorite ginger beer. I love using Goslings. This is one of my all time favorites for flavor and it is also always available at our local grocery stores. It is important to get a good quality ginger beer because the flavor it brings to this cocktail is so good!
