WHAT'S SPECIAL
This drink is like a classic gin fizz, except topped off with a raspberry wheat ale. This adds the most amazing carbonation that makes this drink super sippable.

Welcoming the weekend with this incredibly boozy beer spiked gin fizz. The same amazing combination of lemon, sweetener and gin, finished off with some raspberry wheat beer. The perfect amount of sweet, the perfect amount of sour and the perfect amount of boozy.

I have to admit, I am starting to run out of the posts that I’ve been creating while on furlough during this pandemic. Now that I am back at work, you will start to see my posts slow down a bit. I will try to do 3 a week as my new goal but I’m sure there will be times I fall behind a bit. However, I keep reminding myself this is just a fun thing I do and to not stress over it.

One thing I did notice is the feedback I had over my watermelon margarita I posted last Friday. I saw so many people making them and it had me really excited to hear what you all think of these recipes. To keep the momentum going, I think I’m going to try and keep the same category for Friday’s and post a new cocktail/drink recipe on Fridays. Perfect for getting excited for the weekend and a quick post on my end because most drinks only take a few minutes to make! Plus I get a nice boozy cocktail at the end of it. Win win I think for everyone.

That brings me to this Pass the Razz Gin Fizz. Named after the raspberry wheat ale that topped off this tasty beverage. Watermark recently canned a bunch of their beers and this beer is one of their new ones. It is extremely tasty and packed with so much raspberry flavor it’s too good to be true. When I first saw the beer I thought maybe it was a sour because of the color. Then when I tasted it I was expecting the sour punch that comes with it and it never came. Instead it tasted like a light wheat ale with so much raspberry flavor. It has to be one of my favorites.

I knew this one would be perfect for a cocktail and when I saw that we had gin in our house with some lemons sitting on our counter I knew it would make a great combo. I started off with a bit of gin, poured in a teaspoon of maple syrup for some sweetness then added the lemon juice. If you know me, you know how addicted I am to lemon juice and maple syrup. Makes for one of the greatest combos for any cocktail base. Top that with some crushed ice and this raspberry wheat ale and you have yourself a great Friday night.

Finally, to make this sweet drink even sweeter, I kicked it up a notch with some edible flowers I had leftover. These flowers make them so beautiful and girly it would be the cutest Mother’s Day cocktail. However, edible flowers are optional. But if you have any pretty flowers sitting around, they do make this drink so pretty…

Anyway, now that I’ve talked about how pretty I think this drink can be with some edible flowers, I will mention the importance of ice.

If you are blessed and have an ice maker attached to your refrigerator that has a crushed ice option, I envy you! I would love to have the ability of crushed ice at my fingertips. However, I have a peasant refrigerator where the ice machine is either on mode never stop making ice and overfill or turn off ice maker and run out of ice when you need it most mode. I dream of the day where I can just press a button.

Moving on… crushed ice might not seem like it makes a difference, but there is something so magical about this drink with some crushed ice. It distributes the chill factor so beautifully while you sit and sip. Now, if you are like me and don’t have a crushed ice maker. I have a trick for you. Wrap your ice cubbies in a clean towel that you have sitting around and wrap tightly so no ice can escape. Then take a rolling pin and go to town. Get out all your anger and beat the ice to a pulp. Did you have a bad week at work? Take it out on the ice. Did someone say something mean to you? Take it out on the ice. Did your roommate or spouse chew too loud while you were in the room? Take it out on the ice. Then sip that cocktail and enjoy the weekend.
